Protecting the Innocent

Today, the Church is facing fear and cowardice on a global level. Fear in the form of being over cautious of what we say, being too timid to stand boldly knowing that we would certainly face adversity. Cowardice in knowing what we should say but denying the truth to be told because someone will not like what is being communicated. Too often, being declared judgmental bigots by the society that surrounds us, has muzzled truth and left room for darkness to step in.
When the words of man become more revered than the very Words of the Creator of all things, chaos becomes rampant. What soon follows is the worship of said chaos, the embrace of destruction, then the bloodshed of innocent. History has proven this, time and time again. Nazi Germany, the Rwandan genocide, the Israelites persecuted in Egypt, the worship of Baal and Molech. All these together caused mass murder of millions, maybe more.
Molech was a pagan deity, a lord of chaos, worshipped by the Ammonites and the Canaanites in the time of Moses. They believed him to be a fatherly figure, one that would protect them from their enemies, and they would give offerings of the innocent. There was a giant bronze statue made in the image of Molech, with the arms outstretched and heated with fire until red hot. Infants, living infants, would be placed on the outstretched arms or rolled into the pit of fire Molech’s feet. The infants, the innocent infants, would be burned to death because of a belief orchestrated by chaos.
God was so infuriated by this practice of worship, He demanded that none of the children of Israel would take part in serving this pagan deity as it was detestable to Him. This was so detestable to Him, that He promised His wrath on anyone who partakes in said practices, and He would turn His face against him, separating him from the people of Israel. (Leviticus 20:1-3) Furthermore, if anyone else within the house of Israel turns a blind eye to these practices, then they too would face His wrath, and He would turn His face against them and everyone who is of their family or follows after them. (Leviticus 20:4-5)
Though we do not practice this way today, there is still the shedding of innocent blood. Rather than serving Molech, society has turned to serving self. Instead of sacrificing children on the arms of a burning statue, we sacrifice them in the arms of convenience. Since 1973, the legalization of abortion, to today, there has been over 70 million abortions in the United States alone and the number keeps climbing. Chants of, “My body my choice!” have become a launch pad for a movement used to justify the mass murder of children, once again embracing chaos.
Fear and cowardice have allowed the chaos to take control, this same fear and cowardice makes us no better than those who turned a blind eye to the practices of those who worshipped Molech. Darkness has overtaken the morality of man; we must not stand by idly. Truth can no longer be muzzled by our own cowardice. It is time for the Church to stand up for the ways of the Lord, and to do it out of love.
There will be rebukes of those who follow the ways of the world. Hate will flow forth from their mouths and the anger of man will be turned against those who speak truth. Though there must be someone, somewhere, willing to stand for what is right and protect the innocent, speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves. The question we all are facing is simply this, “Will you remain silent?”
Hebrews 10:32-39 (ESV) '32 But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, 33 sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. 34 For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. 35 Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. 37 For, “Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay; 38 but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” 39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.'
